 The King
 The Knight in Shining Armor
|
eanwhile a Wise Old King wandered through the electronic forest and met Snow White who told him of the plight of the Mother Goose crowd. The Wise Old King, who was as kind as he was wise, had a palace full of trinkets. So he scattered some of his shiniest trinkets on the forest floor and waited with the Old Woman, the Wise Seer, and the Magician-in-Training for the Wizard to come. But the Wizard did not come. The Wizard was wary of humans since some had captured him and tried to strip him of his magic powers and use them for Evil, rather than for Good.
As fate would have it, a Young Knight in Shining Armor happened by the group waiting in the electronic forest. He was so young, so handsome, and so strong that the three friends were dazzled by him. The Young Knight greeted the group kindly and asked their business in this wild place. Hearing of their mission, he smiled, for he had met and tamed the Wizard. Seeing that the women were good of heart, though lacking the magic he had within him, he offered to help them on their journey. The Young Knight agreed to meet them at an appointed time after the sun rose and set three times. Satisfied that the women were in good hands, the Wise King gathered up his trinkets, leaving a few behind for the Old Woman to take with her on the journey. He went back to his castle, and the three friends returned to their humble dwellings.
The Old Woman and the Wise Seer sat by the fire until the light was gone and the night was cold. When they set forth, they had with them many strange maps and charts to guide them on their way. The Wise Seer also had her Book of Remembering that she carried with her always. On a brand new page, she inscribed "Our Quest" in a hand so ornate that it appeared to be a strange symbolic message. She also recorded the Old Woman's hopes and plans for the journey. Now they must seek help for the tasks ahead.
