Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

The Child Is the Light of Her Life - How Can a Star Compete?

ECLIPSE Image Number 01820000

The focus of this illustration, unlike the others, is not the star but the mother holding her infant. The star is part of the background of the illustration and is identified by the fact that it is a bit larger than those surrounding it and anchors the block of text. The nursery rhyme serves as a lullaby to soothe the crying baby in her mother’s arms to sleep. Once again we see the mother and child connection. The nursery rhyme exudes a nurturing voice, a presence of calmness and peacefulness. The light of the star is eternal as is the love of a mother toward her child. These same elements are found in the mother and children at window illustration. Again, muted colors dominate the illustration creating a dreamlike setting similar to the illustration of the young boy daydreaming.
