Two Legs Sat Upon Three Legs

Harsh and Angry - The Man, a Mean-looking Caricature, Aims to Hurt the Dog

ECLIPSE Image Number 00130012

This illustration depicts an angry man catching up three legs and throwing it after four legs. The man is a hot-tempered brute who will have no mercy as he hurls the stool at the dog. Nothing about this picture is nice or cute. The illustrator used dots and lines with no shading to give it a hard look. The man’s face is exaggerated to bring out his meanness; the spiky hair, open mouth, protruding chin, and flushed cheeks all add to this effect. The bristly dog with pointy teeth reinforce the harshness of the picture.
