Cherub Children - Dancing on the Green

ECLIPSE Image Number 02810007

Kate Greenaway's typically elaborately costumed cherub-like youngsters are certainly among the most recoginized and most romanticized images of childhood. Look closely at the face faces, however. Are these children really joyful? Again, soft colors, the flowing lines of the landscape, and the bird-filled sky show the common connection between this rhyme and the celebration of springtime.
