The Queen of Hearts

Captured and Crying – The Guilty Knave Repents

ECLIPSE Image Number 03010000

This image portrays the final scene of this story when the knave has been captured and punished and expresses his repentance. He is in chains with a bandage on his forehead, tears in his eyes, and a bag of tarts at his feet. All the characters are doll-like. The queen sits on a throne with a rolling pin in one hand and a royal infant in the other arm. Again, note the presence of the cat and all the hearts in this picture.
