Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers

A Realistic Interpretation - Peter Gets His Pickles From a Barrel

ECLIPSE Image Number 01770000

Peter seems puzzled, trying to decide which barrels would yield the best pickled peppers. Since he needs a peck of them, perhaps he will select some from each. The older woman may be trying to convince him to buy a particular kind. This is the most realistic illustration of this rhyme unless we can believe that peppers grow pickled on the vine.
