Peter Piper Picked A Peck of Pickled Peppers

Musical Jig - Is It a Means of Escape?

ECLIPSE Image Number 01380000

In contrast to the previous illustration, John O'Brien depicts a much more simply dressed, but also portly, Peter Piper. Also, these peppers are not falling out of the barrel but seem enticed to use their long legs to climb out and take part in a high stepping jig as Peter plays the bagpipes. Of course, the Peter Piper tongue twister leaves us with the question, “Where’s the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?” which could lead one to believe that the peppers are running away from Peter. Due to the haphazard directions in which the peppers are headed, the friendly look of Peter, and the allure of bagpipe music, hhowever; one must conclude that the peppers that Peter Piper picked are engaging in some merry mayhem to Peter's music.
