Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat

Disproportion A world of chaos

ECLIPSE Image Number 01360002

Battaglia’s humorous cartoon-style illustration again depicts the cat chasing the mouse under the queen’s chair. The characters are drawn out of proportion. The queen is very short and plump. The mouse is larger then many rats in proportion to the bottom of the throne. All the characters seem to be elevated as if floating. Is the queen’s world in chaos? It appears to be so in this illustration. Imaginary lines connecting the single eye visible in each character emphasizes the triangular shape of this picture.
