Old Mother Hubbard
A Talking Dog - A Chagrin Mother Hubbard

This
is one of the most comical of the illustrations for this rhyme. Its cartoon
style may make it more appealing to some children. The dog is saying:
"I can scarcely believe it," while Old Mother Hubbard has her hands to
her face and looks somewhat chagrin. There is also a spider hanging from
a cobweb in the cupboard, giving the idea that it hasn't even been used
in months. The mouse in the picture has the bone in its mouth, which is
absurd, but still amusing to yoiung people, especially since neither Mother
Hubbard nor the dog seem to be aware of his presence..
