For Want of a Nail the Shoe Was Lost

Sitting Down on the Job - He Didn't See It Coming

ECLIPSE Image Number 00090001

In this comical depiction, the poor rider sits dumbfounded on the battlefield, his sword clearly having been dropped as he must have fallen from the horse, that can be seen running off into the distance. All that remains is the single horseshoe in the foreground, with no sign of the missing nail that caused it all.
