For Want of a Nail the Shoe Was Lost

Times of Crisis - Little Things Count

ECLIPSE Image Number 00180000

In their illustration of this simple rhyme, the Provensens have created a form of story board stills. The first two scenes are in full block panels, each depicting two sets of consequences and clearly connecting the rhyme with its explicit war motif. The two half-block panels which follow serve to depict a) the final scene, with rider looking up to the kingdom which has now been lost and b) the single horseshoe nail, the root of the problem, with ultimately the "moral" of the rhyme.
