Little Miss Muffet

Where's Miss Muffet? - This Spider Must Settle for Flies

ECLIPSE Image Number 01290001

This illustration differs from most in the puzzling disappearance of our main character. Demarest's silly, smiling spider has one leg on his chin in confusion. Although the spider is baffled, the viewer can surmise that Miss Muffet has retreated to the comfort of the cozy house, probably more to get away from the flies than from the spider. Bold blue, green, and brown against a yellow and pink sky convey warmth and comfort. The large central empty web and all the flies on the ground below add to the overall humor of this image.
