Mary Had a Little LambWho Takes Center Stage? – Mary, the Lamb, or the TeacherThere are three main characters in this rhyme, and illustrators may chose to picture one or all of them within a single image. In some instances, more than one character is visible, but one clearly dominates. If there is only a single illustration, does this kind of dominance change the interpretation of the story? Does the second picture of the teacher deny the essence of the original rhyme? |
