A Frog He Would A-Wooing Go

Riding Romantic – Froggie’s Big Wheel

ECLIPSE Image Number 05140000

Here Froggie sets off on an old fashioned bicycle to find a mate. His dapper attire, the heart-shaped box of candy with a rose attached, and even the pink heart cufflink all point to the seriousness with which he begins his search for a wife. Miss Mousie eats his candy but rejects his proposal, pointing out the incompatibility of their species. A turtle, a bird, and a chipmunk turn him down for similar reasons. Finally, this sad and lonely frog, who may just have placed a personal ad in The Frog Journal, meets his perfect match, and all those who rejected him are bridesmaids at the wedding. The frog-green settings, flowers, and small details are carried through all the illustrations in this book. Be sure to look for signage, book titles, and other examples of the humorous use of text as you study subsequent images in this book.
