I Do Not Like Thee Doctor FellThe Sneaky Doctor - Medicine Coming SoonIn this realistic scene of a boy's room, all attention is drawn to the center, where a dark figure stands. The rest of the room is full of bright color and the walls are yellow, except for this man who is wearing all black. Everybody's eyes are focused on the man dressed in black: the child, the mother, the dog, and the cat. Who exactly is this dark figure in the center of the illustration? After reading the verse and looking at the clues on the picture, one guesses he is a doctor. He is holding a bottle of medicine, and he is checking the pulse of a child patient in the bed. His black suit may also indicate that he is a professional. His patient is obviously in need of medical attention. The red dots on his face clearly indicate that he has an illness such as chicken pox. The verse also indicates that Doctor Fell cannot be trusted. In this illustration the doctor appears quite sneaky. For example, he is holding the medicine bottle behind his back as though to hide it from the boy. His facial expression suggests a certain sneakiness as well. He is grinning while looking towards the child, yet his eyebrows are turned upward. In addition, the figures in the illustration clearly do not trust the doctor. All their worrisome eyes are pressed upon the doctor. The dog appears to be clenching its teeth. The cat appears to be hiding under the bed, however, it really is in a location where it can protect the boy. It is the only figure besides the boy that is located in front of the doctor. The cat's eyes appeared turned inward suggesting anger. |
