Hot Cross Buns!

Puzzlement - What's Happening Here?

ECLIPSE Image Number 01400001

This seller is markedly different from the rest. Unlike the others, she seems to be indoors (in a diner, perhaps?) rather than on the street. Instead of singing or crying her song, she appears sad--almost pouting. The children are running away from her, which is completely opposite from the other pictures. Are these the "daughters who do not like them?" If so, why don't they like them? Finally, the hot cross buns themselves look more like donuts here. This illustration leaves a lot of questions unanswered.
