Hot Cross Buns!

Happy Children - Delicious Buns

ECLIPSE Image Number 01260002

Three happy children enjoy munching on their hot cross buns. Notice how the buns are turned, so as to form Xs rather than crosses. Was this to prevent an unintentional image of eating a religious symbol? Interesting here is the inclusion of a child-of-color, a feature which is sadly missing from most Mother Goose collections. The icing crosses also look more yellow than white, again perhaps to downplay the religious aspect.
