Betty Botter Bought Some Butter

Cause and Effect - Betty's Butter Fingers

ECLIPSE Image Number 00250009

A chubby figure with a round face who focuses on the butter and batter is a common depiction of Betty; but, in this illustration, she is noticeably corpulent. Perhaps this is due to her consistent consumption of the fatty batter. Here Betty is pictured with butter-colored hair and is wearing a butter-colored hat, dress, and apron. She is standing outside, beside what appears to be a body of water, rather than in a kitchen, and seems to be perplexed by the butter held in either hand. Why has she brought these bricks of butter out of the kitchen? Could she be planning to throw the bitter butter into the water?
