The Shopkeeper - Wool Is King

In this illustration, we have come into a store owned and operated by the black sheep. The shopper is probably the boy from the rhyme, and he is modeling the latest creation of the black sheep. Both characters seem to be enjoying the experience since both are smiling. The figures in the illustration are fairly large in proportion and drawn with a comical touch. The negative space in the center of the image serves as a path to the characters, and the texturing evident throughout the illustration provides a tactile experience for the viewer.

The use of warm undertones of gold, red, and purple among all the black wool items, keeps the mood from being somber or haunting. The strong use of line in the shelves and with the characters in the pictures, moves our eyes across the page.
